Nationally acclaimed Bruce Wood Dance brings its 2022-2023 season to a rousing finale with Grace, featuring world premieres by Artistic Director Joy Bollinger and Emmy Award-winning Choreographer Ben Needham-Wood, plus the return of Bruce Wood’s blockbuster, Rhapsody in Blue.
Joy Bollinger’s latest work, And Heaven and Nature, looks at the wondrous design of our planet. Says Bollinger, “Patterns like fractals shape the land, water, and air. The intricacy of these structures, of heaven and nature, gives me a sense of something greater and turns my gaze to the spiritual.”
Ben Needham-Wood’s Ghost highlights how we reconcile events from our past. Needham-Wood says, “Our bodies hold onto the past, as if there is a ghost within us, a shadow pulling our internal strings and shaping how we understand the present.”
Bringing the season to a spectacular close is Bruce Wood’s audience favorite, the lush and sophisticated Rhapsody in Blue. “The end is pure Hollywood: silver glitter rains down on the stage, and the dancers leap ecstatically into the misty never-never land of perfect youth and grace.”––Margaret Putnam of The Dallas Morning News.
